I wish to thank Paul Davis; Laura Ewers; the DJs and media around the world; all my fans and friends; and all persons involved for your kind considerations in my behalf in presenting to me the 2006 NCM RADIO MIKE AWARD, as NCM COUNTRY MALE ARTIST OF THE YEAR --USA. I am truly grateful, deeply humbled and very surprised. If I may be permitted, I wish to accept this award in memory of Grand Ole Opry Country Music Legend Mr. BILLY WALKER, his wife Bettie, and his two band members, Danny Patton and Charlie Lilly, dear friends all, who where were tragically killed when their touring van wrecked on May, 21, 2006. Billy and Bettie were very supportive of my music, and I appeared on various shows with Billy and The Tennessee Walker Band on the road and in Nashville. Billy and Bettie were the ones who first introduced me to NCM and made me aware of Mr. Paul Davis and his excellent work in Gospel and country music. It came about when a Gospel song I wrote and Billy recorded, entitled "FOR ME," was released world-wide on NCM. Billy and Bettie told me of their very high regard for Mr. Paul Davis. Again, I offer my most sincere thanks for this award, and I also offer my congratulations and best wishes to all of the other award winners and to NCM for its outstanding outreach in sharing the Word of God in song throughout the world.”

From the Ozarks in Arkansas, CAPTAIN T (Tom Hunnicutt) congratulates NCM “for the outstanding job you all are doing to promote various forms of Christian music in a meaningful way. Christian listeners are truly blessed, as each artistes touches someone’s heart in a special way. As I move into the New Year I plan to continue to promote my music that is spiritual and Christ- inspired with NCM. Receiving the NCM Mike Award for my folk music endeavors came at a unique time…. On Nov 28, I was interviewed by Arkansas State University and a copy of that NCM Award has been placed into the Arkansas Folklore Archives along with most of my music. …I am a retired Marine following the same footsteps that took me into war and a life of adventure most people only dream about. Today I can reflect on that life and give to others joy and hope through my music…and that is the greatest award. Singing for homeless folks, the senior citizens that no one has time for, to those locked away in prison and singing to young folks about my home state while infusing special messages from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ to enhance their young lives. We all are doing this in various ways and there is nothing wrong with that… Play on! God bless all of you.”

A quick note to DJs about filling in the NCM Reaction Sheets… Please make sure you include your name and details (radio station, publications, countries broadcast-to, etc) on the form so we can pass your comments on to artists – it makes such a difference to the artists to hear what you think of their work. Also make sure you fill in a score for each song regardless of genre – use your professional judgement rather than personal genre preferences. Failure to return the sheets for 3 months in succession will mean a DJ will be deleted from the circulation list

Look out for CLINT MILLER from San Diego as he heads to the UK. He is looking for the following club and church bookings in late June and early July. If interested, don't miss the opportunity! enq@newmusicenterprises.com

Any NCM artistes currently looking for new material for a Gospel album or single may be interested in a conversation that Paul Davis had recently with Scottish song -writer Alex Birnie. Alex tells me that although he has been very busy writing for artistes such as Jimmy Scott, Audrey Kelly, Tom Laverty, Scout Finch and various others, he still has a huge pile of new songs which may be of interest to other artistes who are looking for new material to record on future NCM releases .Over the last year or so 5 of Alex songs have been in the top 6 of the NCM Country Gospel Charts . Says Alex ‘ Back in February this year both Jimmy Scott and Audrey Kelly were in the top 6 in the same week , and I was rather pleased with that’. Anyone interested can get in touch through New Christian Music or direct with Alex at his e-mail address ajbirnie31@aol.com

And Finally…
From Nashville, Marty Martel sent us this:
IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER - by Erma Bombeck
(written after she found out she was dying from cancer).
I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.
I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.
I would have talked less and listened more.
I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained, or the sofa faded.
I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.
I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.
I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.
I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.
I would have sat on the lawn with my grass stains.
I would have cried and laughed less watching television and more while watching life.
I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.
Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.
When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, "Later. Now go get washed up for dinner." There would have been more "I love you's" More "I'm sorry's."
But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute...look at it and really see it .. .live it and never give it back. Stop sweating the small stuff!!!
Don't worry about who doesn't like you, who has more, or who's doing what. Instead, let's cherish the relationships we have with those who do love us. Let's think about what God HAS blessed us with, and what we are doing each day to promote ourselves mentally, physically, emotionally. I hope you have a wonderful day.

NCM News 167 15th December 2006

As delighted grandparents, Hazel & Paul Davis are pleased to announce that their newest grandson DANIEL JAMES EWERS was born to their daughter Laura & her husband Paul Ewers on Monday 11 December at 4.20am weighing six and a half pounds. Both mother and baby are doing well. Praise the Lord!

From Norway, KARIN WRIGHT says, “I’ve framed my NCM Radio Mike Award certificate and it’s on the wall. I'm very pleased with the work NCM do and all the reactions from all the DJ's and journalists is ab fab.”

From Eastbourne, England - Lucy Paculabo Mhondera writes, “Survivor Records was started ten years ago in response to a move of God amongst youth in the UK. Thousands began gathering together in worship and many new songs flowed out as the Holy Spirit inspired a new wave of creativity. No one knew then that these songs would be sung right across the globe. They became anthems of a movement - the soundtrack of a generation seeking to express their love for Jesus. As a record label, we’ve sought to ride this wave, identifying new and fresh worship music and making it available all around the world. Over the years we’ve had the privilege of releasing to you songs and sounds from the likes of Tim Hughes, Matt Redman, Soul Survivor, Delirious?, Tree63, Newday, Paul Oakley, Martyn Layzell, yfriday and onehundredhours - plus many other worship leaders and gatherings. And the wave just keeps on growing. Our ‘Emerge’ series ensures the continual introduction of new worship leaders and last year we entered a distribution partnership with Sixsteps Records - bringing the likes of Chris Tomlin, David Crowder Band, Charlie Hall and the Passion College movement into our family too. This year we celebrate ten years of Survivor Records with a special double CD containing Matt Redman, Tim Hughes, onehundredhours, David Gate, Johnny Parks, Brenton Brown, Martyn Layzell, Nick Herbert, Vicky Beeching, Tree63, yfriday, Simon Brading, Lex Buckley, Paul Oakley, Hillsong United & Soul Survivor. We thank God for all He’s done and are grateful for your support.”

Jim Schweiger (Mindy’s Dad) writes from Virginia, “Thank you so much for keeping us abreast of your NCM charts and feedback from stations. It is truly an encouragement for MINDY and this family. MINDY is continuing in her recovery, believing God for her miracle of healing - to walk, sing, and be back on the Ministry road. Her back surgeries have healed nicely. The paralysis in her face and left arm have gone from her. The many other injuries to ribs, lung, head have healed over, leaving only some exercising to be done in upper body. She continues to take daily physical therapy. Although Mindy has no functional use from her waist through her toes, her muscles have miraculously stayed in tone, and not atrophied. She does have sporadic pain in the paralyzed areas, which is a good and bad scenario. She has done a few speaking engagements, and even a bit of singing, to continue the ministry God has entrusted to her. You (NCM) have been instrumental in providing encouragement; and the emails that are sent from several stations to MNSchweiger@AOL.com and JSchwei924@aol.com have been a huge pick-me-up for all of us. GOD CAN, AND WILL DO IT!!! “

From Texas, GENE & LAVADA write, “We’ve had a very busy year this year!! 2006 has taken us on a month-long tour up through New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Montana and Oregon!! The Lord blessed us with so many opportunities to share the Good News of Salvation in Jesus Christ and we made so many new friends along the way! God is good! He gave us the opportunity to go to Nashville last May and record our third album project. We call it, “At the Speed of Love.” We just want to encourage you in your own life...if you are having difficulties and struggles...stop and take some time to open up the Bible and study His Word … truly His love letter to us. “

Thanks again NCM, you are doing a wonderful job and we look forward to working with you in 2007.”

Grammy Awards Show will be held Feb. 11, 2007 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Carrie Underwood, who parlayed her American Idol victory in 2005 into a blockbuster debut album, . Her hit single "Jesus, Take the Wheel" -- written by Nashville songwriters Brett James, Hillary Lindsey and Gordie Sampson -- is up for an all-genre song of the year award. Gospel nominees include Kirk Franklin, MercyMe, Third Day, Alan Jackson (for his Precious Memories album) and the Gaither Vocal Band.

In an open letter to friends and fans… SHERI EASTER wrote – “It is with a heavy heart I write these words to all of you who have supported my mama, Polly, and The Lewis Family for many years. A few days ago, Mama was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, plus Lewy body dementia. While Parkinson's typically affects motor skills, over 50% of Parkinson's patients develop Parkinson's disease dementia (PDD), which is a Lewy body dementia that affects cognitive skills by disrupting perception, thinking, and behaviour. By the symptoms Mama is experiencing, we are told that she is in the very early stages. She has begun medication and we are hopeful because of the early diagnosis. It is important to Mama that all of you know so that your prayers would be with her in the years ahead as she continues travelling. I'm certain that all of you who have ever met her are fully aware of why her grandfather called her "Sunshine". If you were fortunate enough to meet her, you also know that she never forgot a face or a name. While everything inside me wants to scream out that life isn't fair, I am quietly stilled by the message that each of our families has sung about through the years. God is faithful and is an ever present help in our time of need. Mama is committed to the music and to the fans, just as her Daddy, Mama and brother were committed for so many years. She plans to continue her regular touring schedule of 100,000 miles annually for as many years as God allows and is looking forward to seeing each of you through her travels. Please pray for Mama. We love and deeply appreciate all of you for your concern and continued prayers.” www.thelewisfamilymusic.com

Progressive rock band LEELAND collected its first GRAMMY nomination recently in the category of Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album for their debut, Sound of Melodies, at a press conference in Hollywood. Brothers Leeland and Jack Mooring, of Leeland, weigh in with their thoughts on the nomination, “We are overcome with thankfulness and joy about this. God continues to amaze us everyday. Our family is doing back-flips right now, and so are we. Thanks to everyone who have supported us, and whether or not we win, it’s a humbling place to be. Praise the Lord!” The 49th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on “GRAMMY Sunday,” Feb. 11, 2007, at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles and once again will be broadcast live in high definition TV and 5.1 surround sound on CBS from 8 – 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

Australia’s REBECCA ST JAMES is returning to the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre on Friday, 2 February, 2007.The women’s only event, entitled SHE (Safe, Healthy, Empowered), unites Rebecca with her mentor EVIE TORNQUIST for a unique night of music and girl-talk. SHE is an event for “girls” of EVERY age – whether you’re 8 or 80 – to join in and celebrate the beauty of womanhood in every season, and finding freedom in becoming the kind of woman you’re intended to be. Rebecca explains, “We have seen a real hunger from women of all ages for encouragement and this is what we pray the SHE tour is. There’s something very beautiful about seeing mothers and daughters coming together and enjoying each other – and all receiving something from the night.”

And Finally…
Sad suppression of religion?
Submitted by STAN LAUNDON (ex-BBC Broadcaster) Spain.
'Twas the month before Christmas
When all through our land,
Not a Christian was praying
Nor taking a stand.
See the PC Police had taken away,
The reason for Christmas
No one could say.
The children were told by their schools not to sing,
About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.
It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say
December 25th is just a "Holiday".
Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit
Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!
CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod
Something was changing, something quite odd!
Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa
In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.
As Targets were hanging their trees upside down
At Lowe's the word Christmas, was no where to be found.
At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears
You won't hear the word Christmas
It won't touch your ears.
Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty
Are words that were used to intimidate me.
Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen
On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton!
At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter
To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.
And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace
The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded
The reason for the season, stopped before it started.
So as you celebrate "Winter Break" under your
"Dream Tree" Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.
Choose your words carefully, choose what you say
Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS, not Happy Holiday!

‘In Christ Alone’ is a new, original recording featuring ten of KEITH GETTY'S best-known hymns, all sung for the first time by his wife KRISTYN GETTY. Over the past six years Keith, with STUART TOWNEND, has written modern hymns sung around the world, including ‘In Christ Alone’ and ‘The Power of the Cross’. His hymn writing with Kristyn Getty, his wife, includes ‘Higher Throne’ and the newly-penned ‘Hear the Call of the Kingdom’.

JONATHAN BROWN says, “SWITCHFOOT come from San Diego, make what are arguably the best albums that migrate effortlessly from the Christian scene and you know that this, their latest album's going to be huge. Switchfoot's 'Oh! Gravity' is everything it ought to be, nothing that shouldn't and a little bit more than all the rumours suggested it would be. In other words, it's profoundly good. With typical downbeat style that stems from a genuine humility, Jon Foreman describes his feelings for this, their sixth studio album: "We wanted to make a record that was honest. A record that didn't trip on itself. A record that represented everything that we first fell in love with about music. We tried to forget about theory and pitch and timing and focus on feeling. As a result, I think that Oh! Gravity is the most honest thing we've ever done." 'Oh! Gravity' is the first new studio collection from Switchfoot since the
group's ‘Nothing Is Sound’ entered the BILLBOARD Top 200 best-selling albums chart at #3 in September 2005. (The group's major label debut, the double-platinum smash The Beautiful Letdown, peaked at #16 on the Billboard
200 in June 2004, more than a year after its release.) 'Oh! Gravity' is produced by TIM PALMER (U2, TEARS FOR FEARS, TIN MACHINE, JAMES) and Switchfoot. The album is executive produced by GRAMMY-winning Producer of the Year Steve Lillywhite, who also helmed the track, "Awakening," with additional production by Tim Palmer and Switchfoot. To top this all off and support their new release Switchfoot have just confirmed their first European headline tour:

NCM's BRYAN CHALKER is also in the running.

WALTER HAMMOND reports that NCM song "Beneath The Talmadge Bridge", sung by KEN BYFORD, made history recently by being the first Christmas Song to hit the #1 spot two Christmas Seasons in a row on the renowned worldwide Top 100 "Gospel Classics" playlist/chart hosted Rev. Wayne Graham. This song is one of a few songs officially endorsed in writing by an entity of The Salvation Army being The Birmingham, Alabama Division of The Salvation Army. Ken Byford, (GodsChild & NCM Records) is already a multi-award recipient for the video of the song originally released in 2004. Walter Hammond says, "Whatever results from this song, please do not forget to support The Salvation Army this Christmas Season."

From New Zealand, Dave Smith of JUST COUNTRY FM radio network tells us that Keisha Castle-Hughes - the female lead for the film THE NATIVITY is from New Zealand. “She did not attend the premier in the Vatican as she was busy filming another epic in Australia. She is soon to become a mother at the tender age of just over 16 years. Best wishes for the festive season Paul and your band of NCM assistants.”

NCM’s English pianist, ROB BAKER writes, “Serving the Lord with SIL in Benin, West Africa. The NCM Weekend sounds like a GREAT idea. Alas, I'm still in West Africa, so will be unable to attend - my apologies! I hope the weekend goes really well! I know the venue really well as I used to teach at Vandyke Upper School!” www.robbaker.org

Please pray for England's singing missionary to Eastern Europe, GUS EYRE. He says, “I’m one breathless saint!!!... It looks like that my heart-op will be in the next few weeks, immediately before or just after Christmas. ... Thanks so much for the invitation to the NCM Weekend - I would have loved to be with you, but I've already got a series of engagements over that weekend (heart permitting!) and will be unable to join you. I do however wish you every blessing for the weekend, that the Lord would use it for His glory in building friendships, bringing encouragement and promoting the spread of the Gospel through music. As ever, in Christ.”

From Bath, Somerset in West England, NCM’s singing politician, BRYAN CHALKER writes, “Many thanks for the invitation to the NCM Weekend, but I can't make those dates due to pressure of Council work in preparation for the May 2007 local elections. Nevertheless, I wish you every success and will obviously treasure the award/certificate.”

NCM’s Debbie Lassiter from Milwaukee says, “I have a group of people working on some jingles for your NCM Radio Show.” Thanks Debbie!

From the USA, MAURA McKINNEY MASTRO writes, “NCM This has been such a wonderful experience. Your attention to each artist on your compilation discs is a blessed and precious ministry from you. Thank you. Thanks as big as the sky God made to all of the Djs who played and reacted ... I am proud to be included in the special roster. I pray that my song has blessed many as was my heart's intention for it when it was written. There is a unique appreciation of music in Europe and we as artists benefit from that. You and NCM have beautifully communicated that appreciation to us. Today, I received the parchment reading" "Radio Mike Award". Should I be honored and thrilled? ...because I am! Don't know much about it as I am new to this but I thrilled to have received it from you today. I opened it just as I was listening to a loved one's testimony re: the personal love of Jesus for each of His children. Tears were in my eyes as I listened to her testimony and then I glanced down at the parchment that I had just removed from its mailer. There was my personal statement of love from Jesus in the physical. … Since you are a Christian, I am sure you must enjoy knowing how The Lord has used you, once again to Bless one of His sheep. Thank you, Paul! Continued success to you in your creative ministry.” www.MauraMcKinneyMastro.com

From bonnie Scotland, GERRY FORD writes, “Thank you for the great news about the NCM Radio Mike Award - a very pleasant surprise. Unfortunately I am unable to attend that weekend due to prior commitments here in Scotland but wish you all the best with your endeavour. I will add the news to my own website… I am delighted to have won the award and will be delighted to add it to my collection. It's great to be included in such great company."

KAREN MONEY writes from Plymouth, England, “I will be thinking of you all there and really hope you have a wonderful NCM Weekend (3-4 March 07)! I have a myspace page. I set it up after my music seemed to be liked by non-Christians!
www.myspace.com/karenmoney Another exciting thing is that the Jesuit prayer site www.pray-as-you-go.org are using some of my songs on their downloads! It's a real honour to have my music used in this way and actually I've found their site to be really helpful for daily prayer times. That's my news! NCM seems to be going from strength to strength, which is absolutely brilliant!”

Well done to STEVEN McLINTOCK of Long Beach, California who is topping the NCM Euro Christmas Chart this week. He says that he is getting a lot of emails asking about buying a CD. “Thanks a lot for your NCM help and I am very proud of this song getting heard through your efforts.”

And Finally…

A Christmas prayer sent to us by MARTHA DAUGHTREY from Alabama, USA

I'm not dreaming of a white Christmas.
I live to far down south.
You may believe in Santa but; me I have my doubts.
It is very pretty to see the lights aglow.
Now I've got Jesus in my heart.
I know it's the day of His birth.
All I want for Christmas Lord is just peace upon this earth.
Now if I believed in Santa.
In which I don't as you can see.
So I won’t look for him to stop by or leave presents under the tree.
I want to tell you what I'm praying for.
I ask God for what it’s worth.
Heavenly Father bring peace upon this earth.
No I won’t hang my stockings or leave cookies by the fire.
I'll get down on my knees and talk to a Being so much higher.
We should all talk to Him each night before we retire.
I will say, "Lord, oh Lord hear this prayer for what it's worth.
Please Lord, bring us peace the day of your Son's birth.
Stop the hate and destruction that’s spreading across this land.
I sure thank you Lord for your Son's birth.
All I want for Christmas Lord is You to bring peace on earth.

NCM News 165 1st December 2006

This winter there is a great opportunity to spread the good news of Christmas through watching a movie. The film called THE NATIVITY STORY features a comprehensive cast including the youngest Oscar nominee KEISHA CASTLE HUGHES as the Virgin Mary and OSCAR ISAAC as Joseph. The production is top notch – they are even having their premiere at the Vatican! Check out the trailer at www.thenativitystory.com/

SOUL SURVIVOR continues to be a major influence on the Christian community in the UK. This year saw the largest event ever with over 25,000 youth gathering for the 15 days of worship, teaching and building community. ‘Soul Survivor 2006 – Love Came Down’ shows Tim HUGHES together with Soul Survivor Watford worship leaders BEN CANTELON AND LEX BUCKLEY led the main worship sessions at this year’s event. This album is a major source of new worship material for churches and this year is no exception with new songs from all of this year's worship leaders. As an extra feature this year’s album also includes a bonus DVD filmed at the event featuring a 10 minute snapshot of Soul Survivor 06 as well as a preview of the SOUL IN THE CITY vision for Durban, South Africa in 2009.

Two prestigious NCM names are headed out on a Christmas tour this winter, REBECCA ST JAMES and BRIAN LITTRELL. They will be doing a joint tour through 8 cities in December.

TERRY CLARK writes, "We've finished the month in the UK and have arrived home in California. The tour was truly a blessed time filled with more answers to prayer than could be counted and fruit that will surely abide. We have discovered the view that England and Scotland are largely anti-Christian, anti-God, is false. Everywhere we went we found beautiful people who are loyal worshipers of Jesus, servants, living life as only Jesus could prompt. We found people willing to hear and do the Word, who wouldn't even think of denying God's creativity or His grace in sending His Son to save us. Our recording of the new anthem, ‘Behold!’ (Isaiah 12:2) went well. THE FATHER'S SONG male vocal band, from Glasgow, were the voices gathered in Motherwell Calvary Chapel. They were directed by IAN WATSON. From Maryland, USA, LISA MEADOWS writes, "I just wanted to send a note about how blessed I am by having my very first charting song ever. Seeing my name on the same charts with so many people I admire, such as AMY GRANT, is even an added bonus! God is so good! This has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl.” Lisa wants to give a great big ‘thank you’ to everyone involved in the song. God is so awesomely good and I know we say it all the time, but sometimes we as Christians don't really realize how true this is. ‘His Promise To Me’ was a gift from God through LYNN BECKMAN, a wonderful man of God. He approached me last year this time and we recorded it and when I sang it in the studio I felt God's anointing upon it. I had no idea it would be released on this NCM compilation CD. God has used this abundantly and above all I could ever ask of think. I just want all of the radio disc jockeys to know how grateful I am that they play this beautiful song by Lynn Beckman and that God is using my voice for His Glory! I am so thankful to you, Paul and your staff for this opportunity and to all you who are giving this song airplay. You can't imagine how grateful I am! This had been just one of ‘His Promises to Me’ and I love Him so much. God bless you all. Merry Christmas and the best New Year in Him you've ever known."

It was a great encouragement to the 12TRIBE records label and the band THE ANSELM to receive this award [NCM Radio Mike Award]. Thank you very much. We have found NCM an invaluable way to present our music to a worldwide audience and feel through our own involvement in this that we've also encouraged other independent Gospel music makers to get involved too."

Singer JOANNA CARLSON had a particularly thankful Thanksgiving last week after her son JOSEPH received a life saving liver transplant. When Joseph was born doctors diagnosed him with a rare chromosomal disorder called ‘Cat Eye Syndrome’ which among other symptoms caused him to have 5 holes in his heart, a malformed spleen, stomach, eyes and gall bladder, a single kidney and bilary atresia which ultimately leads to liver failure. At 17 months a suitable liver became available through another family’s loss and subsequent generosity. Doctors are amazed at Joseph’s progress. Obviously Joanna faced insurmountable medical fees to keep Joseph well and was taken on by the charity COTA (Children’s Organ Transplant Association) which took care of much of the expense through donations. “This is the time of year when we remind ourselves to be thankful for all that we have and all that we have been given. But ‘thank you’ does not seem to be powerful enough to express my gratitude” says Joanna.

Here's a reminder to look out for NCM's CLINT MILLER from San Diego on tour with from GEORGE HAMILTON IV from Nashville. They head back to the UK for the following church and club bookings.

And Finally…

A little girl was sitting on her Grandpa’s lap as he read her a bedtime story.
From time to time, she would take her eyes off the book and reach up to touch his wrinkled cheek. She was alternately stroking her own cheek, then his again.
Finally she spoke up, "Grandpa, did God make you?"
"Yes, sweetheart," he answered, "God made me a long time ago."
"Oh," she paused, "Grandpa, did God make me too?"
"Yes, honey," he said, "God made you just a little while ago."
Feeling both their faces again, she observed, "God's getting better at it, isn't he?"

The Christmas advertisements are in full swing on the TV now, but have you seen the ad for TKMax? The advert shows a group of people passing around a red parcel which they mould into the shape of what-ever they wish Santa will bring them – a lamp, a dress, a toy etc. But if you listen carefully the background music is the ‘Carol Of The Bells’ by NCM’s POINT OF GRACE! The quartet are headed out on their annual Christmas tour from next week taking in 16 cities across the US.

Yesterday’s MACY’s Thanksgiving Day featured NCM38’s SANDI PATTY on one of the floats singing ‘Oklahoma Rising’ in support of the Oklahoma Centennial. The song written by VINCE GILL and JIMMY WEBB is to become the State’s new anthem to celebrate its 100th year anniversary of Statehood.

WES DAVIS likes the BRYAN CHALKER treatment of his song 'Small Packages' on NCM39. Meanwhile, Bryan's re-written the song 'Little Boxes' and is already receiving media attention, with airplay on BATH FM, BBC RADIO BRISTOL's Breakfast Show, interest from HTV and a feature in the BATH CHRONICLE newspaper. Bryan says, "That'll be three songs on the go for Christmas, with 'Long Black Veil' on HotDisc; a fitting tribute, I feel, to the late MARIJOHN WILKIN, who co-wrote it with DANNY DILL way back in the 1950s."

NCM's TERRY CLARK writes, "We were in York, England for the weekend. We started in London, Westminster City School, on our wedding anniversary which happened 31 years ago not far from there in Claygate, Esher. We are humbled to be a part of what our LORD is doing in the UK." www.catalystpeople.com

From NW England, NORMAN POLDEN and the "FLAME FM team make three specific prayer requests: 1. We have invited the Trustees of Life Church to meet with us 23rd November explain why they want us to vacate the studio and for the opportunity for us to explain why doing so would complicate Flame FM's future broadcasting activities. Please pray that an understanding and formal written agreement will result so that Flame FM can continue to use the studio for two more RSLs up to the end 2007, and credibly apply as an ongoing broadcaster to Ofcom for a full-time Community Radio Licence. 2. Please pray for ideas and opportunities, formally agreed by end June 2007, for a MW antenna location on Wirral…The MW antenna itself will cost us around £30,000 to install and equip. Whilst Ofcom could not find an FM frequency earlier this year for us, they are encouraging us to apply for a MW licence next year for Wirral. 3. Please pray for ideas and opportunities, for a larger studio adequate for full-time broadcasting within the boundaries of the Borough of Wirral. As a great big shouted "THANK YOU LORD" we rejoice in the success of Flame 13 bringing our total broadcast hours since inception to 8,200. www.flamefmwirral.org.uk

From England, JACQUELINE ELIZABETH GODFREY writes, "I just want to say - Thank God for you and your outreach in this way. I am a Christian myself and have been given your NCM demo CDs regularly by a broadcaster on the BBC (who is not a Christian). I am guiding him on which tracks to play. If you did not send these CDs out, then this could not have happened. So, keep up the good work and God bless you... PS: Personal favourites to date are: "Evangeline" by WEAR THAT SHOE and "On Angel's Wings" by KAREN TAYLOR-GOOD.” Thanks for the encouragement!

From Alabama, USA MARTHA DAUGHTREY writes, "I know through NCM that my music is travelling the world. I received a request from Nigeria W/Africa. SISTER SHARON STEPHENS a Missionary asked me for Bibles for the Ozugba Village. In two days I have been able to raise 102 Bibles for the mission. God is an awesome God to let me be able to grant this lady’s wish. ... I will be able to ship them out airmail to her by Tuesday of next week. She got my name and e-mail address from the NCM list. I am glad that God choose me for this mission. I am proud to be a little part of NCM and a big part of the family of God. I hope He uses me till He uses me up."

JANIS LEWIS PHILLIPS – of the much loved LEWIS FAMILY says “On October 4th I went into the hospital for surgery to remove a huge polyp from my colon. 18" of the colon and lymph nodes were removed. Thank God it was benign. I was hospitalised 5 days and since then I have been recuperating here at home. I want to thank each one of you for the messages of concern on the web, for the cards, calls, and all other acts of kindness. Most of all thank you for your prayers, they brought me through again. I went to my doctor yesterday and he said I could go on the road again if I was able. If you really know me, I am ready. Also, I would like to thank my son LEWIS for doing my part on the stage.” Please keep Janis in your prayers www.thelewisfamilymusic.com

From Nashville, JOHN REES (GODSCHILD RECORDS) writes, "Thanks for your NCM NEWS updates. We look forward to keeping up with your many activities. GodsChild just completed a week-long convention here in Nashville for the ICM (Inspirational Country Music) event, and it was a biggie. Today, several of our GodsChild artists, including BILLY CHERNOFF are off to Gulf Shores, Alabama for the big FRANK BROWN song writing festival. It's a 2 week long event, and they just added Gospel, so are pushing us pretty hard. I think we're sending 6 or 7 artists, and are hoping for the best. We continue to get a lot of songs recorded and have the new YOUNG HARMONY single (‘What If He Didn't’), which looks promising. We also have the theme song for MELANIE WALKER's very popular television show, ‘Come On In’, that is airing on 900 stations. We're glad as they play the theme on the front and back, so we get numerous plays. We own publishing companies in BMI, ASCAP, and SESAC, and still find Country Christian music to be an under-performer in terms of airplay. I think one solution we plan to seek is to employ a mainstream Country song plugger, so we can take advantage of the increased airplay. ... I'll keep you posted."

From Tennessee T JAE CHRISTIAN writes, "I just finished a great new album with an artist from Australia, came off great. He'll be flyin' back tomorrow. Hope to have it ready for release in a couple months. ... My wife goes to hospital Friday morning for back surgery, and I will be the chief cook and bottle washer for a while now." We pray for a speedy return to health.

Following the release, the band embarked on a steady stream of tour dates (with over six tours and 400 shows in a two-year span) establishing a strong, loyal fan base. From Georgia, USA, FRANK FORTUNATO (OPERATION MOBILIZATION International Music Director) writes, "I direct HEART SOUNDS INTERNATIONAL, a division of Operation Mobilization. We send teams of worship musicians and recording engineers to restricted parts of the world to help the underground church. We do this mostly by helping emerging churches in restricted and persecuted places get their indigenous worship recorded and distributed. God keeps his people strong through worship. We have recently released a compilation recording ‘Sounds of Global Worship’ with 22 tracks from 16 regions of the world. ... It is entirely non-western and non-English and therefore will appeal mostly to those with a very wide angle radar screen on worship around the world.... My ministry needs a little army of recording engineers who are daring enough to do some field recordings in risky parts of the world. I need to tap into the huge world of Christian recording guys who would be willing to raise an airfare to join us somewhere in Asia or North Africa or the middle east where we do our underground recording projects. After a serious bout of illness, NCM's FRED LEONARD from Cincinnati, Ohio writes. "I feel great since I have been on a strict, disciplined, natural, organic, and somewhat herbal diet, I have lost 30lbs. or so. Absolutely no meat, sugar, dairy, white flour, caffeine, any products or any processed food. Only a Garden Of Eden Diet because, "God Wants Us Well", from Kenneth Copeland Ministries at: www.kmc.org At present, the tumour(s) appears to have stabilized, it needs to be confirmed by The Cleveland Clinic Neurologist ... Thank You for sticking with me in prayer, and I thank all of my British and American Christian Brothers and Sisters who have and continue to pray for all of those, like me, who do need God's healing. I would imagine that all of us in this world need to be reminded to stay on the right track with Our Father in heaven throughout life, in order to be able to have the best chance at living a full life that I believe he wants us all to live before going home with him and his son, Jesus Christ." FredLeonardMusic@aol.com Fred says that he has a couple of songs in the pipeline that may appear on future NCMdiscs.

This week’s joke comes from JAMES CHASTEAUNEUF
A young girl wanted to become a nun so she went to a convent and was interviewed by the Mother Superior. The girl was accepted and was told that it was a silent order and that she could speak only two words after she had been a nun for five years.
Five years went by and she was called to the Mother Superior.
You have been with us five years and you are allowed to speak two words - said the Mother Superior.
"Cold food!" - the nun replied.
"I'll see what I can do!" - said the M.S.
Five more years went by and the nun was called again and given the chance to say two words.
"Hard bed!" - she said.
"I'll see what I can do!" - said the M.S.
Yet another five years passed and she was called in front of the M.S.
You've been with us 15 years now and you have the chance to say two more words - said the M.S.
"I quit!" - said the nun.
"Thank goodness for that!" - replied the Mother Superior - "you've done nothing but moan since you've been here!!

Calling all media…! CLINTON LOCK (EMI CMG) is giving NCM DJs and journalists the opportunity of telephone interviews with ADIE CAMP, former lead singer of THE BENJAMIN GATE, and wife of CCM artist JEREMY CAMP. Adie has just released her debut solo project entitled 'Don’t Wait' and receiving considerable airplay and chart success on NCM38 with 'When It's Over'. With her spiky red hair, seemingly never-ending energy and the insatiable charisma that couldn't help but draw an audience in, Adie is one of Christian rock's most captivating performers. Interviews are likely to be in the next week, although Clint is awaiting confirmation of exact day and times. INFINITY MUSIC DISTRIBUTION has just joined forces with THE KINGDOM KIDZ CLUB for a long term distribution deal. There is an inspirational story behind the Kingdom Kidz ministry, KIM NORTON conceived of the idea whilst praying in her car. She had just received the news that her 2 year old daughter had been diagnosed with cerebral palsy and Asperger’s Syndrome following a stroke. She was asking God how she could possibly teach her young daughter about the Bible. Then she heard the simple reply – ‘Sing it into them’. Since then the ministry has led families in learning God’s Word ‘one song at a time’. This new distribution should make the products more widely available. www.kingdomkidzclub.com

GRAHAM KENDRICK keeps on pushing the boundaries, returning with one of his most remarkable recordings to date. The album's title - 'Out of the Ordinary' - hints at the direction taken by the eleven songs. The album aims to explode “our misconceptions that limit our understanding of God.” The album carries on in the tradition of his previous two studio albums 'What Grace' and 'Do Something Beautiful'. Some songs have been co-written with several leading worship writers: PAUL BALOCHE, STU GARRARD, TRE SHEPPARD and DAN WHEELER.

Which NCM artistes did BILL GAITHER congratulate for their ability to write ‘organic’ Christian songs..? Bill Gaither praised husband and wife AMY GRANT and VINCE GILL for writing songs that weren’t filled with ‘God-speak’ but had a more organic way of communicating the gospel. He said it was a trait that country songwriters used effectively.

BBC Radio Bristol's 'Breakfast Show' gave no less than 15 mentions to BRYAN CHALKER's 'Little Boxes' song on the morning of 5th November, which included all news bulletins. They also featured him playing guitar and singing the first verse, then played two verses from the actual record and later, due to listener response, were obliged to play the entire song. Bryan says, "Next month, if my song 'Small Packages' (penned by Wes Davis) does well on NCM, I'll see if I can whip up some more local media interest."

The list of big acts featuring at next Easter’s AUSTRALIAN GOSPEL MUSIC FESTIVAL grows and grows! This week it was announced that jazz virtuoso JAMES MORRISON will take to the stage. He recently released his CD Gospel Collection Volume 2, plus an autobiography ‘Blowing My Own Trumpet’ presenting the “adventures and misadventures” of his life. Morrison’s performance at AGMF 07 marks his second visit to the festival which has earned the reputation as the country’s number one event for youth, kids and families. The diverse festival sees Morrison joining SUPERCHIC[K], BLINDSIDE, DAY OF FIRE, JIMMY NEEDHAM, and the PLANETSHAKERS BAND. AGMF started in 1999 as a joint venture between business, community, government, and Church groups to contribute significantly to the social, economic, and spiritual fabric of the city, and the Australian community. AGMF CEO ISAAC MOODY says AGMF 07 is shaping up to be the “best festival yet”.

MUTTO lead singer with Australian band SOULFRAME bravely took on the judges of AUSTRALIAN IDOL recently. 'Joyful Shouting', the song written by Australian-based singer, song-writer and guitarist JONATHAN JAMES, was placed number 5 in the NCM Euro Charts last month. Jonathan’s song was chosen from his recently released CD of worship favourites 'My Covenant' recorded and produced in Singapore and Australia. PAUL DAVIS described the CD as “a top folkish, praise and worship release recorded with the help of solid musicians….Jonathan’s deep faith is an essential reason for this album’s existence. With a simple believable quality in his voice, there is an out of the ordinary, lingering excellence especially when he sings proverbially in the major key…the result is a winning mix especially ‘Joyful Shouting’”. DENNIS PAYNE the pres
